Since 1983 Young Arts has provided exciting opportunities for children and young people to get involved in creative arts activities. The Arts Society recognises the valuable contribution of the arts to the development of creative, cognitive communication and social skills in young people.

We aim to expand the horizons of young people through their involvement in creative activities, inspire them with a lasting enthusiasm for the arts and develop an awareness of our arts heritage and its conservation.

Young Arts opportunities are organised by individual societies and can take a variety of forms of support from providing funds for materials to running projects. The type of project is planned to respond to local needs.

Nowadays the focus of The Arts Society is on a wider range of projects involving different groups and ages, not just the more traditional model involving mainly schools.

Young Arts projects can include:

·         Artists in residence in schools

·         Art lectures for students

·         Equipment purchases

·         Practical workshops

·         Funding for gallery or museum visits

·         Art exhibitions

·         Bursaries/awards for individual students.
