There are currently 15 Societies in the  Chiltern Hills Area. For further details about them, visit the Societies section, where you will be able to find contact details, the location and time of their meetings, and a link to each Society website.

The Area organisation is seen as an important means of communication between Societies and as a link between Societies and Arts Society House, located in Guilford Street in the Bloomsbury area of London.

The Area Team is there to support local  Societies. Twice a year, in March and October, all Society Chairmen are invited to a meeting that is attended also by all members of the Area committee. In addition, one or more guest speakers from Arts Society House including a Trustee are invited. Every Society in the Area is represented at the meeting and this is an indication of the importance attached to these gatherings.

The Chairman, Treasurer and other members of the Committee give reports to the meeting. Society Chairmen are, of course, given the opportunity to ask questions about the reports or to make comments.

The representatives from The Arts Society House give presentations with news and developments since the previous meeting, and may also forecast future changes that are being considered.

Societies take it in turn to host the meeting, and provide a light lunch which provides a valuable opportunity for informal discussions amongst those attending.

In addition, the Area Trainer arranges Training and Information Days for committee members, or prospective committee members, where participants have the opportunity to network with members from other Societies. The Area Co-ordinator for Education runs Study Days designed to complement the programmes of local Societies and an annual meeting where the Committee members running a Society's programme of lectures, study days and visits meet to discuss and share their experiences.

Some of the functions carried out by this team are shared jointly with our neighbouring area, Wyvern. An asterisk shows where this is the case.
